2) Its down to the judgement on the officer. If he believes it to be a defect, where it could possibly catch the tyre, he'll raise a defect, and it needs to be rectified within 14 days, and proof produced.

If you fail to comply, a court summons will be issued. No points, as it's not a motoring offence, but a failure to comply offence. They could, if you refused to comply, take the car away and impound it.
Polo I am in a similar position as you probably know! lots of advise but not a lot of hard evidence to back it up. My MOT tester rang VOSA when I was having the MOT re done and he told me that VOSA dont hold any rules/guidelines about arch clearence at all.

The MOT checks for tyre condition/and condition of suspension if the MOT tester deems the clearence to small they will perform a bounce test iirc if it doesnt touch its fine.

I would suggest speaking to an MOT tester and ringing your local VOSA office.

3 points and £460 fine

It was 3 points for the arch gap and £150 fine, the rest wer all £50 each + charges.

Nice to catch up with a fellow drifter in for speeding charges while i waited to go in thogh

thats a bit tight. i didnt think there was n e laws on lowering, only depending on safety really if the tyres will catch when driving. mine did so i raised it not had n e problems since. got my mot in january so will find out then wat happens.

as for lights i thought it was as long as u cant see the light itself then its fine and obviously u dont use them on the road if theyre blue especially but u can have a red at the back and a white on the front.

I believe your Vehicle is suppose to have a minimum of 20mm Travel to pass an mot. I highered mine to get it on the lift and he still had to go through the workshop and reverse it on due to the front splitter being scraped up the ramp. And! (On a 4 post lift you have a jack built in some, slides down the middle?) He had to get another work mate to lift the front end of the car with his hands just so the jack would slide under the front pipe.

Day after i droped it back down. Front's 120 and rear is 100.

The centre-jack thing on a 4-poster lift won't go under my A4 either.

Still passed the MOT as they lifted it by lowering the 4-poster onto some long pole stand things.

I love having a slammed saloon :)

As far as i am aware, there arent any laws to how low you can have a car! I'm sure that an MOT centre could raise a point that if a car was grounding out it can be deemed unsafe! Cracking your sump on something or a speedbump and spilling you oil all over the roaad isn't exactly safe. something i have actually done :lol:

But not heard any stories of being too low! Only whether wheels/tyres foul the arches.

what the police should do is hand you a vehicle requisition form where they will tell you to make necessary changes, take it to an MOT center and they will stamp the form to say you've made the changes. Thats what i got when my BBS 8's were rubbing on my arches. Didnt do anything, Mot boy let me off with it and just stamped it :P
