we had our new polo gti for three weeks when i noticed oil on the garage floor ,after having a look underneath i found it to be leaking onto the black subframe bar directly below the cat ,the car has only done 300 miles
took it to our vw dealer who diagnosed the turbo was leaking ,got the car back and guess what ... we have two oil leaks now grrr!car went back they replaced turbo pipe ,got the car back today and ....its still leaking ,had a look with the vw mechanics and it looks like its leaking from the drive shaft and then flicking onto the subframe ,but they are not sure!as the drive shaft is connected to the gearbox that dreaded word ,and there is an oil pipe that apparently runs through the centre of it ,it could mean a new gearbox and drive shaft too ,the point is i only noticed it cos the car is parked in the garage, please can you have a look from the front of the car underneath ,and see if you have any oil on the black bar at the back of the engine,i need to know if this is a one off problem as we are looking at rejecting the car and also this info might help others in case they have not spotted it

bummer they need to steam off the oil and run it up on the ramps an see where its coming from, dealers are useless speaking form experience on several occasions!!

i agree dealers are useless ,but please can someone have a look under their car i need to know if the black bar that runs across the width of the front wheels has no oil running onto it ,we are still waiting to hear from the dealer,
talking to there master tec they did not have a clue where its now leaking ,can only guess!not what you want to here !

Well a was under ma car lastweek and there was no sign of any oil mate

ok thanks for reply ,but please is there anyone else that has looked under there engine, it only takes a second !just to confirm they are oil leak free ,
the dealer has been very good and are going to replace the car ,for another new one ,just waiting to see how long we have to wait ,driving around in a polo blue motion god they are aweful ,under geared slow and no where near as ecomical as they make out
so c,mon lets have some replys about this oil leak !

I had a leak, but not near there, it was an incorrectly fitted oil return pipe which has now been fitted correctly back in place and held with jubilee clips,

it had ran down the rear of the block over the 16k miles the car had done, but never dripped

but its all steamed and cleared now

thanks for the reply's ,i did not want to get another one and end up with the same problems ,sounds like mine is a one off ,incidently we had a dashboard rattle which this loan car has too ,so looks like all the polo's get it
they did manage to stop that at least,the took out the top tray and felted around it ,and also felted the centre of the dash where the stereo is ,apparently this is the same problem on the new golfs ,but if anyone does have an oil leak please let me know!
