Offset advice/problem

I am possibly getting some new rims, their offset is 38. However the huge problem is they are 4x108, which means adapters will be needed.

Once adapters are fitted, will the wheels stick out too much or not? If they will stick out, then how can I solve this issue?

I really do not get the whole offset business but the alloys im staring at are a pain to get hold off, which is why I would like them to be fitted regardless of the hassle unless its wayyyyyyy to much hassle.

Thanks for any help in advance.

To be honest I don't think you can get adaptors for 4X100 to 4X108, I may be wrong, but I've never come across them.

If you did source them though, 38 is a reasonably high offset, so if your adaptors weren't that big (eg more than 20mm) and the wheels weren't too wide (more than 7.5 say) you'll be fine.

If they did stick out alot, options aside from smaller adaptors would be slim tyres, to house a larger stretch or arch work.

Adapters to fit 4x108 rims on a 4x100 car DO exist! The "thinnest" adapters are build in is 15mm, so that will get your offset to 23. Other option is getting 20mm thick adapters, which gives you offset of 18

Then it still depends on the other specs of the set of rims if it will fit (how big in inches? How wide in inches? For instance 15inch 7inch wide on an offset of about 20 looks perfect under a mk4 Polo, get some streched 165-50-15 Nankang tyres and it will look as sweet as f*ck

Would it be silly if I said wobble bolts?

Maybe 100 to 108 (ford fitment?) is too much.

Thanks for that Jarno, basically they are 4x108, 15" with a width of 6.5J, tires will be 195/45, but I think I need 185? Can you offer any more help Jarno?

The alloys are TSW Venoms :), will be getting them refurbed white.

What's the offset of them also mate?

15" X 6.5 will have no problems on 15mm or 20mm or even 25mm adaptors. Providing the offset isn't silly. Which I can't imagine it being, as the wheel is a pretty standard size.

I would get 165/50 tyres mate, they'll give you a little bit more tuck and look better than 195/45s 8)

Thanks for that, the offset is 38 without spacers/adapters.

What is the standard wheel tire/size that will not cause any +/- knock off the speedometer for 15" wheels?

Thanks again.

195/45/15s for wheels that size.

ET38 is a good standard offset, you shouldn't have many issues after adaptors.

Thanks for all that help tim, do you have any idea which adapter size would be best? I wouldn't mind going for smaller adapters as I already have 4 5mm spacers.

It depends what looks your trying to go for, 15mm would be good though, without hassle.

sorry, haven't read the thread lately :(

So they;'re 6,5J wide with an offset of 38 is fine to work with adapters like Tim already said. Just calculated a bit, if going on 20mm adapters, you'll get the same look of a 7J rim with offset 25, which is perfectly sitting in the arches to my opinion. And on a 6,5J I wouldn't go for a 185/45/15 tire, will look like a balloon I'm fearing, go for 165/50/15 to get a bit of strech on it, , then the wheel/tire combo willl tuck in a bit more higher in to the arches, making a further drop better possible

Hey Jarno,
Do you know if its possible to get 15mm PCD adapters from 4x100 to 5x108 ?
Cheers,
