on my car the petrol cap cover has a little bit that sticks up where u put ur finger in to lift it up then get to the petrol cap.

i was thinking of getting rid of the the notch and making it smooth.

was wondering, if i did this is there some sort of catch u can get where u push the cap in and it unclicks it and opens up? if u get wat i mean.

Wire a switch into your dash enabling you to pop it like a boot popper does.

dp u know where i could get the switch from? as its obviously gotta be small?

i think, if you do get it smoothed that you can actually open it without wiring a switch or anything, iam sure someone did this on a mk5

i did think about it. having the switch is more secure but in order to unlock my petrol cap u need the car key anyway so it aint as bad. i might look into it when the weather gets a bit better...

I think Tom had it done on his old GTI and he said you could still use your finger to open it.

i might have a quick look tomorrow befor work then... maybe if im of monday might have a go at doing it.......

mine haas a push in and it pops out. so maybe look as what the 9n's have and fit that..

thats the bit i was thinking of....... obviously i would have to find one first or get it from a vw garage. unless n e one randomly has one laying about?

It's been done a few times. And everyone seems to be able to open it with no problem.
