Harness adapter help??

Hello guys, silly question but here goes.. . I want to replace the factory head unit on the car, I was goin to just get an autoleads ISO adapter but then read that i may need a CAN BUS adapter or it will blow the ECU 
Could someone tell me exactly what i need. The model is a 6n2 GTI, and i was just goin to throw in a sony HU.
