overheating
overheating
I have replaced the fan switch and coolant hose on the girlfreinds R reg polo because both were leaking but now when the engine warms up, the bottom rad hose stays cold and the fan doesn't come on. I have tried my best to get any air out of the system but unless the heater is kept on full the engine will overheat - anyone got any suggestions?

whooooooooooo before u go replacing parts maby u should check afew things before u go changing bits because people on the internet told u 2! lol
1) remove one end of the coolant pipe coming of the top of the rad and start the engine!
It should pump water/ coolent out at u!
If it doesnt then the plastic implers on the water pump have sheered off (very common on polo;s) get the water pump and cambelt changed!
2) undo the thurmostat housing (3bolts if i rember correctly) pull the thurmostat out!
boil some water in put it into a metal pot drop them thermostat in and it should open if the water is boiling! If not your thermostat is stuck!
Now u can spend some time and unstick them but for what they cost u might as well replace it!
which ever one it is it would be worth flushing out the coolant system with a good coolant flush! you will be amazed at how much crap comes out the rad!
Good luck!
