Forge FMCL007P DV and cone filter (remove the airbox completely) and you hear a classy whoosh
Easy DIY...

1. Drill lower half of your airbox
2. Get a cone filter on it
3. Get a Forge Splitter ( heard mixed opinions about these for throwing up ECU errors)
I have had cone filter on mine before and the noise honestly does my head in and removed it a week later. Now I have PD160 intake, K&N panel filter and drilled airbox and you can hear it dumping. Only from in the car tho, doubt you will be able to from the outside

You just need a cone filter to fit directly on the MAF...
I have just replaced my drilled airbox with a cone..
Mine is a large high flow paper cone that cost £45....
Sounds great... not too loud.. just a little woosh... when lifting off...
Like Kenny says... just look for a come that fits a Golf 4 gti

So since they are paper I take it they are not oiled, so can't damage the MAF? If that's the case, what's the life expectancy on something like that and where do you get them?

a wannabee you haha
i run the apr r1 with the cupra d intake and green cotten filter without problems, it works perfect and boost correction was far better than standard and my forge 007p was
however, this valve seems better with the induction setup i have than an open filter, as when i had a cone fitted, it sounded to be making a squeel noise on low revs, this not present audiably with the stock air box
which is why i run the improved stock setup, as the valve works better than any iv had before, so im not gonna replace it for the sake of a noise
