Rear ABS Sensor 2000 Polo

I'm trying to figure out how to remove and refit rear abs sensor...
Being a man, I used a bit too much force trying to remove it after unbolting the allen key bolt and the plastic which is inserted in the rear wheel drum has now snapped leaving the fat end still in the rear of the drum. Is this simply aged/stiff or is there a method in removing this part?
please advise!
