starting problem

car wont start unless jumped or bumped.
its a 1.4 16v. alternator is workin but battery is drainin when sat there.
could this mean broken battery or could it b that some thing is not switchin off. plus also likes 2 cut out sometimes when clutch is pressed when on the move
