People who drive Polos with induction kits are silly. Don't do it.

It may make a slight difference but not enough for you to notice on a 1.0L.

If you use an induction kit thats too big then the fuel/air mixture gets messed up. Too big and the engine forces more fuel to compensate for more air and vise versa.
However, an induction kit just de-restricts air to the throttle. It can have a
minute increase/decrease in accel if any at all. It's not worth thinking too hard about.

Everyone I know who has an induction kit on their engine is a gimp driving a 1.2 206 or something who thinks it makes them look and sound cool when everybody just regards them with contempt. Silly boy racer mod, don't taint your Polo.

^^ Very generic! Very true most of the time with people I come across. I have one BUT I don't think it adds 15bhp nor sound wicked lol
IF which I doubt most polo's will ever do; it can help other engine mods perform best to their ability by derestricting air getting inside the engine ie, manifold and cat back exhausts.

It makes a relative difference on the GTI actually - but its a sports engine, which pulls a huge amount more air than a 1.0 for example.

I noticed my K&N kit gives the car a slugish start at acceleration like it needs to suck up a lot of air before pushing it through however, once its passed that stage it seems to accel slighlty better through higher revs.
had a universal kit (ie not designed for the specific car) It was so huge it kept sucking in soooooo much air the accel was slightly hindered AND I only got half the mpg

Universal kits worry me lol I'd only ever go BMC - as I have on the last two cars I have owned purely because I know they are properly designed!

For big pockets you have to go BMC I agree. I have the K&N 57i, which is designed for each application. I only used the universal tat for a week whilst I waited for the K&N to arrive!
