Join a seat owners club forum as you may find one there!
Never know if you'll come across one at scrappy's although the cars ain't common let alone engines etc sitting around at scrappys.

have a look at the 1.8T out of a golf GTi, more common car and shouldn't be too difficult to do, tis what i'm considering when i get the rest done.
also i was considering a 1.6 vtec out of a honda but that would be quite a bit more work to mount etc.

not a bad idea, did cross my mind to be fair ... but been told that is pretty prcey too ... but i guess beggars cant be choosers.... i may look at th 1.6 polo gti engine and tune it up as my dads m8 is a mechanic and managed to tune and bore out a 1.3 mini to keep up with my m8s cosy round the lanes lol

A 1.8T conversion is pricey with more work necessary. An Ibiza or the equivalent skoda model engines can be a donor
You could stick with a 6n2 GTI lump BUT with any 6n/6n2 donors you face gearbox issues with more power.

cheers noz, im guessing the gearbox issues wont be a problem if i get the 6n2 gti gearbox in there will it ?

That's the worst gearbox out of all the 6n/2 boxes available. If you get one you'd have to replace internals with rally bearings. It'd make sure the box holds up and you don't face huge repair bills in the future.

No idea if you can fit a lupo gti box to it, which doesn't have the same problems and comes with 6 gears

lupo gt box does indeed fit. the problem you will find, or so i am told, is that they use a hydrolic clutch system. so you have to make that work somehow and convert it to the polo.
Now what i would personally look into is the seat leon engine. Now we know this is a VAG lump, ts a 2.016v short block engine. The same variety of engine also found in the mk3 golf i do believe... however the dfferences between these engnes am honestly not sure.
The best thng to do mate would be too sign up to the seat forums and ask about the engine. Do your homework. Fnd out about the ibiza gti lump and the mk3 golf lump and see what the dfferences really are. Id like to do this conversion aswell tbh so im keen to find out. Would be mroe interesting then my 1600 on motorbke carbs idea. And im also told the 2.0 16v engine is easy too tune. I had one in my mk2 golf but ddnt own the car long enough to really do anything with it or learn anything about it! Shame ive sold it now as i couldve attempted to do the engine swap myself!... second thougths f**k that i can handle a ratchet but m not that clever lol.
But yeh thnk about it if it turns out by chance that the 2.016v golf lump s the same and wll fit then all you need to buy is the engine mounts and brackets to convert it over. Thus reducing your costs significantly! There are ways off working around the loom issue aswell. For instance going down the route of a mechnical fuel injection like i had in my mk2 golf, thuss ridding you of the ecu adn associated wiring problems!

well the only places i know to get vw engnes guaranteed is steves vw breakers in chelmsford essex. dont know how far away in kent you are but if your near the QE2 its not a ridiculous trel for what you want, though still a bt of a minor mission. On the other hand my best mates dad owns a vw garage in london near oval. He has a few 2.0 16v engines sitting about i thnk! If not he defo has the 1800 gti from a mk2 whch would still be pretty tasty in a mk4!!!
