New Gearbox, Hard Clutch

I've just had a reconditioned gearbox fitted to my 6n2 about 2 weeks ago and only today I've noticed the clutch pedal is stiffer than what it was yesterday.
It seems to be biting ok and the biting point seems normal.. I have tried the pulling off in 3rd gear method and strangely it pulls off after a bit of rumble.. But I have heard this method doesn't necessarily prove clutch wear...
Any ideas why??
