Get the 1.4tdi, you won't be dissappointed.
Remappable to 110-115bhp
£35 Tax for the year (If registered before a certain date)
And good MPG

Thanks guys, ive never even considered gettin a diesel so maybe thats an option. The insurance for me on a 1.4 is not to bad so im thinking this is the one to go for, id love the gti but i got a quote for £1500 for a years insurance which is far too much!

Ronals look great on a polo mate, folk at work are tryin to make me get them. Although a like the wheels that are on it and they are proper VW alloys. To be honest ive never saw another polo 1.4 16v with the same wheels so ill be keepin them...always wanted to get them coated in a gun metal grey kinda colour but ive never bothered. Mines has done 35k now never had a problem

. have to say though really hard to come by with low mileage if they do itll likely be a show car and youll be payin out your hole lol. A paid four grand for mine, it was immaculate...

Just be prepared to be disappointed in the sensation of speed that pretty much
any car you could dream of affording will give after riding an R6!!!
I drove a Lamborghini Gallardo and wasn't all that impressed with the foot-to-the-floor acceleration, and the fastest bike I've ridden is a Yamaha FZ6!
Anyway... MK5 Polo... Really nice little car.
I had the GTi which I loved, but looking at your insurance quote, maybe it's not the right choice for your first car
I'd go for the 1.4 Diesel as someone else has mentioned... If you get it remapped (£300 ish), I don't imagine you'd have much trouble keeping up with a GTi and you'll get much better fuel economy and far cheaper road tax.
Even without a remap, it'll still be a really good car.
Good luck!
Cheers
Josh

Well i work at a Suzuki dealership so i have riden pretty much all the big bikes GSX-R100's, R1's, ZX-10R's so i have been spoiled when it comes to acceleration and the sensation of speed

as long as its nippy thru the lanes then im happy if i need a fix of brain removed lunacy then i can just jump on ma bike

A would even have to admit test driving 350z and skylines at work and jumpin in a polo well....lets just say there is a difference lol. Totally different class of cars though...
