The best tip I can give you is keep trying different things till you find whats best for you.

Have a look on the link below, ask in their forum. I am using chemical guys citrus wash and gloss and find I get a nice finish once its been dried off.

Also the way you wash it can make a big difference

Definte the term 'once over'?

Do you mean a quick wash?
A quick spray?
Polish?

Scratches would be a machine polish, but that hardly comes into a once over!!

What colour is your car?

Ahh awesome, in that case mate, purchase this polish:

And this wax:

Machine polishing in a nutshell is a machine that uses pads of different densities along with abrasive polishes to skim the surface of your paint. It takes a very thin amount off the top of your clear coat, totally abolishing minor swirls, medium scrathes and blemishes.

Kits start from around £120 up to £200 (more if you wish). It's an acquired and patient process, but immensely rewarding. It's the single most effective thing you can do to your paintwork.

You can also surf about and find someone who will do it for you (I will be in a month or so!) expect to pay £150 upwards for a full wash, clay, seal and wax.
