hey guys, once again another problem with the polo =[
after just fitting a new clutch about a week ago, i was driving home today and about 10 meters from my garage the car developed a incredibly loud noise whilst moving. as if some peice of metal was scraping with another peice of metal?
i tested it a little more to try determine the source of th noise and sounded to be coming from the front driver side wheel.
the noise was only there when moving. i know my brakes are fairly low but had been told they had a month in them still when the clutch had been done ( 1 week ago)

Strangest part is, after letting the car sit for a while the noise stopped. nothing, and all sounds fine again? any ideas guys?

cheers! joe

Is it an intermittent grinding when you drive slowly?

it was a constant scraping noise, almost as if metal rubbing on metal.
i decided to stop this morning and phone the AA before joining the motorway.
The mechanic came and had a look, took the wheel of and there it was. lodged between the backplate and brakes was a small stone. no bigger than 4mm long and 1 or 2 mm width.
glad that ones sorted!
so if anyone is unluckily enough to get the same problem, maybe well worth checking for stones =]

Give the breaks a check mate, rule that out first
