Hi i am new to this forum and i have just brought a 1999 Polo 1.4cl, it neeeds abit of TLC but im sure i can handle it!

As i am new there are a few things id like to know, i am wanting to mod it but do not know the best mods or where to get them from. First thing i will be doing is alloys then slamming it, whats the best wheels? anyone selling a set? how much do i expect to pay for coilies?

I have a loud vibrating sound coming from the rear (sounds like i have a roofrack on) will that be my rear wheel bearings?

And a stupid question;

Whats the difference between 16v and 8v buumpers?

Basic mods are these:

de bump strip
de badge
de wiper
stubby ariel
clear indicators and repeats
mk 5 rear lights
some slammaaaage
pressed plates
16v bumpers

Main difference in 8v and 16v bumpers is that the 8v bumpers are two pieces and the 16v are one pieace. 16v ones look chunkier and give the car are more sporty look really. As for basic mods, most of the basics are removing rather than adding, so you can do it yourself!!

Welcome to the site mate. Does sound like a wheel bearing, could be exhaust related also though. Is the sound directly linked to speed? Or revs?

And there's no such thing as 'best wheels'

Related to speed more so, around 30mph it is quite loud but after that it gets quieter. Ah yeh, i like the rial Gs's but not sure on the price they go for? wheres the best place to get wheels? i know dubmeister is quite good, anywhere else you can recommend?

Hmm that's strange, a knackered wheel bearing would generally get louder as you went faster.

Ok, cheers for your help, il get the noise sorted. Really with wheels i just want a set for the time being as i hate the standard wheels so the rials maybe a good choice for now, have to source a set.

Jsut save up and buy some you really want. No point buying some 'for the time being', save the cash

The guys have pretty much got it sorted here, save up and get a decent set of alloys. You buy cheap you buy twice, although its worth saving for wheels you REALLY want.
