Engine Check light is back

Now, i had this about a week/week and half ago.
Read the fault, said about a mis fire, i wasn't present when the code was read so don't know what it exactly said.
But something about a misfire none-the-less.
Now, the fault was cleared, car runs fine blah blah.
Let my sister borrow the car while shes having an MOT on hers, it's now back up...
Any ideas, as to what it exactly is/how to fix it?
Thanks guys.

You really need to vag-com it to get an error. Its quite hard without a fault code unless its something obvious

if u feel safe doing so, u could take ur sparks out and check them and check the leads are connected properly... its a simple job but it could be the solution.... im no mechanic tho.
i had a problem like this and the spark plug lead wasnt on right... prob not the same as u but it was a simple job.... migiht as well check, cant hurt.

I had a similar problem on m9. I had a mis-fire on spark plug 4 and once the AA guy cleared and cleaned the plug it worked perfectly. However couple of days later the problem came up agen, i took out the spark plug and noticed that the 4th spark plug had a crack going down it, this meant that the spark was not following the correct path down to the cylinder, therefore causing a mis-fire. While i was at it i also changed the HT leads which cost me £35 from GSF.
Best bet check ur spark plus and HT leads for any signs of corrosion or damage.
