Hey guys, looking to take my 1.0 6n2 to the next level (ready for GTI engine in summer when i turn 19 with 2 years NCB ), first things first, i want electric windows and central locking (genuine VW preferably, over something off ebay that will break).

Anyway, need a list of parts i will need, so far i know i need:

Window switches,
Central locking pump,
Central locking remote,
Electric window mech,

Im not sure what else (obviously a fair bit).

Also, will i need new doors, for the frames etc to bolt to, or will i be able to use my standard doors (apart from the doorcards obviously, but i already have the leather colour concept ones with electric window switch holes, to match my VR6 leather...)

Erm, I'm not sure about the central locking, i think you need a pump (with goes in the boot, where the first aid kit is); well, that's what I've read, anyway.

You need the locks in the doors, they're operated by a vacuum (by the pump), and then the loom, which will open/close doors as you open, close them.
I noticed when i took the doors off that there was the pump hose going to the lock, and 2 wires (presumably the open/close switch, which will go to the boot.

You do know that central locking is not the same as remote (where you open the doors with a controller on the key..)

Electric windows are even harder to fit! Without the loom (which our cars don't have, its basically running the cables yourself). I have literally just completed putting them in myself, but it was a real problem without the loom.

If you can do the GTi conversion, I'm sure you can manage windows and central locking.

The only problem you might have is that i took out the vacuum line to run my window wiring, but I've already got central locking (with a kit I bought online).
Unless you know your way around electrics, I wouldn't bother.

But i can honestly say, it wasn't that difficult, it's taken me about 2 days to do the windows (without knowing a thing about them); and they dont work fine.
