might be getting a new polo 1.6 sport 105ps and was wondering what sort of potential power i could get out of it with exhuast, remap etc
and the reason im not going for a gti is because the insurance would be too expensive
anyones comments muchly appriciated

Why not look at getting a 1.9TDI??? Much more tunable??

oooh i could do but ive seen a real nice 1.6 at my local dealer and its the right price trade in etc lol ..
would there be anything that could be done to the 1.6?

With a 1.6 you will only get about an extra 25bhp with a remap but with a 1.9 130 you can get about an extra 50bhp with a remap

and theres no way on the plannet youll get 25 hp from a 1.6 petrol on a remap, more like 10 absolute tops, im sure J will back me up here,

i dont doubt the drivability of it could be improved though

there really is not a lot of potential on a naturally aspirated petrol engine, sure with a goof induction kit and exhaust and remap, you may see up to 120 - 125 bhp, but its really not going to make the world of difference

the tdi would be the choice for me

they are turbo'd and have massive potential for tuning for more power, but again, if ts power you want, throw a few £thou at a gti and you could have a 300+ bhp animal

its all choices and money at the end of the day pal, everyones needs are different

Get the Diesel ... in any variety ... loads of poke to be unleashed ....

1.6 wouldnt pull the skin of a rice puddin.. like Jeff says ... 10 bhp increase is max really...

1.9tdi 130 is possible to make 190 if you dont like the clutch...

but the 130 is fast anyway... masses of torque .. even at 165 with say 80NM more torque it makes for an economical flying machine...

Forget the 1.6 ... get a Bluemotion.... and get that remapped. you know it makes sense.. insurance must be cheaper on one of those...

get a TDI ive got the 1.9 Sport but its only the 100bhp one with a remap it would be on a 130bhp level. or if youve got the money get the 130 it flies like anythin plus 6 speed .petrols got no turbo so its Pointless
