TDi PD Tuning boxes

I've been looking around for prices on a TDi PD tuning box for my (soon) 1.4TDi Mk5.

Anyone know what the difference is betwen the various ones for sale. They range from £29 to £150. And the price doesn't always corespond to the look of quality either.

My understanding in the most basic form, you have a resistor in a box tricking the injector heat settings. But some adverts warn of "overheating circuits" and other scary sounding stuff.

Anyone know or have had any experiance of these units? Just don't want to blow the thing up !

Cheers

I have tried just about every different way to tune a diesel. Chip, box and remaped ecu. Beleieve me I have wasted thousands on tuning products and I can honestly say there is only one product that works and I have had five of them now in various cars and that's bromleys Tunit device.

I have currently got one running on my Mondeo TDCi and they put their money where there mouth is by fitting it and letting you try before you buy. Most diesels gain 20-25BHP and economy is genuinely increased on motorway runs, urban is unchanged.

Downside is price. £398 for your car, but you won't get anything that beats it, trust me I've tried them all. What sold it for me was Diesel Car Magazine take every car they test there for an upgrade. Dozens of diesel tuners advertise in there every month and every time they take their cars to bromleys. There must be a reason why?

There is a website called www.diesel-inside.com that has a couple of lupo tdi's running 115bhp!! Have a look on there, they may help you.
