im thinking of buying coilovers off ebay. The hot tuning or ta technix ones. Any opinions? Its my daily and i drive to uni and back every day. So taking into account the speed bumps and stuff in uni. Any one recommend them? Would like good and bad points on them if possible. Like i no for the price they arent going to be great. But what yous think. Should i or should i not? Are they a good buy and are they safe?

I'm using them and recommend them. For the oney they're awesome. I more expensive ones out there would obviously be a little nicer on the ride. But I've never driven any others to compare them to, so am well happy.

i would advise a guy on www.clubpolo.co.uk called philJ, he has his own section called jackson tuning and they are pretty good coilies for about £220 delivered

They're the same coilovers as the ones from eBay. Except from my experience with PhilJ after 2 months they still hadn't arrived, so cancelled and went with Hot Tuning.

I was in the position to judge the price jump on insurance. I didn't tell them, my due time is in less than a month where I'm shifting to a new company with all mods declared.

Ok Tim thanks! Think its Hot tuning for the win then! Just got the polo back the other day. Was down in SQ Design getting the bodywork done that i needed so there gonna fit the coilies for me when i get them sorted! Im still on the 50 profiles though but im bustin to get the coilies on! Should the tyres be first?

I would get the tyres first yeh.

With coilovers you need to fit them, let them set for 3-4 days, re-adjust them after they have set, then get the tracking and camber adjustment sorted. A bit annoying if it's your daily driver (which I would imagine it is?)

If you got new tyres, I'd recommend that you re-adjust your coilies further to get the best stance: another effort and half day of jacking up the car etc. And I'd recommend getting the camber and tracking done after you fit the new tyres, instead of before to make the alignment the most effective. And with me assuming this is a daily driver, would mean you driving with incorrect tracking and camber for a longer period of time. Thus putting more strain on factors like inside tyre wear, and further wheel bearing strain.

Yea its my daily. I need it to get to uni every day. . I no im phoning a guy tomorrow about the tyres. Think im getting Toyo proxes. Will there be any problems with the 45s on?

Depends what wheels and width are you running? Generally 195/45s are the standard though, and will not cause issues.

Im running Estorils! There 15s Et35 6j i think.

Yeh get 195/45s then. Or if you fancy them, 165/50s! They're a tiny bit better on a 6j wheel, not much though. Here's what 165/50s look like:

I do have issues yeh. But that's because I ride 25mm adaptors making my offset around ET15 . ET35 would be no problem.

ok mate thanks. I love he 165s on your wheels. But if thats 165s on the Estorils in the pics aboe they look very similiar to what im on at the minute.
