Does yours have ABS?

If it doesnt you would need a Non-ABS hub and disc/carrier/caliper assembly off a 16V mk4 polo then its basically just a simple swap.

You also need a new handbrake cable designed for disc brakes too.

Polo brakes are relatively rubbish anyhow, so rear discs really wont make much difference unless your car needs some much better stopping speed due to its power.

A properly bled system will be good enough, but you can still fit discs if you want to :)

If you have ABS, then you will need a hub and disc assembly designed for ABS instead.

If you don't have a 16v then you don't have ABS. The rear brakes are useless anyway and furthermore they only do about 20-30% of the braking. You're much better off spending the cash towards a better brake setup on the front.

Think the rear brakes on 16v's are an optional extra or people have just upgraded the rears but they never came as standard.

I've got Black Diamond combi discs with their Predator pads which is a hefty price to pay lol.

The setup is great but it can take a few mins driving for the discs to warm up to work perfectly. How much venting depends on how hard you'll use them really. The predator pads last very long and don't give off much dust. With Pads it all depends on how good they work, how quicky they perish and how much brake dust they give off etc.

They bit quick when running cold but quickly get upto temp. They also last a really long time cos i've been abusing the same pads for 2.5years and have only replaced them this month!

The only issue with BD Predator pads on mine is that they're areally hard to fit right. Both times i've had them i've taken them off after first fit and fitted them again.

look around for the wheels, prices vary massively according to where you buy. i say have a look at www.rimstyle.com, great wheel and tyre packages, the lad there (gary) is very helpful and brutally honest, and they do great stretches on tyres, with postage and lockin wheel nuts thrown in all for free. i recommend!
