Adding Central Locking

Hi guys,

Hopefully this topic differs from the other remote central locking threads about just now, as I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I have a 2001 1litre Polo of the 3 door variety. It didn't come with central locking as standard but I would like to add this feature to the car, with the hope of then having remote central locking after that (ultimately from a VW flip key).

Now I'll admit that I'm a complete novice when it comes to stuff like this  but I am hoping to learn from experiences and also have a couple of friends that are handy with cars who can lend a hand. What exactly would you suggest are my first steps on a project like this? I have done a little bit of research and a previous topic (which I cannot now find) had linked to a central locking kit at Maplin - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=12303. Would a kit like this work or do you know of any other kits that may be better? Would I perhaps be best off going to a scrappy and finding a 6n2 with central locking and taking the parts from that?

Hopefully some of you kind people can give me an insight as to what this will entail,

Chris.

Its best to fit aftermarket - it does take a while to do, but once you get it right its worth it :)

Retrofitting it from another polo that had it fitted wouldnt be possible as its pneumatic in the polos, and due to the wiring etc, not possible to retrofit without wasting weeks on it!

Thanks for getting back to me so quick guys! :)

So lets say i choose to go with the Rightclick manufacture, would this kit http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.ph ... cts_id=399 be the one to buy for me and my polo? Does it include all the necessary bits like motors etc?

Thank you,

Chris.

If you get stuck, send me a PM. I did exactly the same to my 1.0 polo :)
