Well the polo is off in the garage on saturday, nothing exciting though.

Getting a good service, timing belt & water pump changed!

However i tinted my rear lights ages ago but want them back to original now.

So i used some paint stripper to get the tint off, which worked a charm, however they now look like this :

Tryed white spirit, t-cut & rubbing compound to shift that white stuff, btu still to no success. It has faded but there is still a layer that is prooving impossible to budge.

So any mroe suggestions on how to get rid or any ideas on new lights

thanks

Could the paint and/or something you've used eaten into the clear plastic causing the frosting look?

I got mine from a member from club polo.

See a couple on ebay couple of weeks ago. One black, one chrome.

Think you may just have to wait for a pair to show up.

Yeh i would think Howard is right, looks like the plastic is damaged, not a stubborn layer. What does it feel like?>

it feels like very thin dry paint to be honest.

Left to soak in white spirit for about 10 minutes then some serious scrubbing seems to be doing the trick. But i mean SERIOUS SCRUBBING.

Just giving my arm a rest then back to that again. Should be a fun night. And i have only done one light :(

Glad your getting through it. You planning in keeping them plain or spraying them again.

lol well done as much as i possible think is possible. Its soooo much better but in some places you can still tell, so going to have to really invest in some new ones come pay day tomorow!!

I am now driving with one red and one tinted :?

Just seen your little picture lolhoward and i do like the look of them. Are they hellas?

Edit: oh and how he hell do you remove the 3rd brake light, above the rear window????

Yeah i've got Hella's.

I just cut around the seal and used a flat head screwdriver to prize it out. Just make sure you seal the replacement. I used black silicone.

Remove the third brake light? Undo the two screws underneath the boot lid (like on the back where the boot light is) then very carefully just pop it out with a plastic screwdriver or similar that wont damage the paintwork.

You just need to lever the light out of the tailgate.

Ye indeed it is, although the tailgate has the hole for a normal mounted light!
