Making a 9n polo in to a trailer

Hi
This is something that I have thought about many a time, especially after being at some of the vw meetings up and down the country and being able to see some that have been done.
I would be looking at taking a 9n that has been smacked at the front and remove the whole front of the car wings engine etc leaving just the main fire wall which will need alot of work done to make it acceptable to look at and water tight.
I am wondering if any body on the forum has tackled this and how much work is involved in getting to the finished article. I am a confident welder and time served for the mechanical work of which I feel will be minimal, just the fabrication side of things that will take the time up, something for the winter months this year I hope.
I would be interested in hearing from any one that has done this.
Thanks
Sandy
