15" Lowered? or BIGGER?!

As it stands at the moment I Have a 9n on Audi pepperpots on 195/50/15 .
I love the wheels, but i cant help feeling like they look too small!
I'm torn between what to do! keep the 15" and get it lowered right down, or maybe step up to 17's?
The first option I'm worried it will make the wheels look way too small and silly!
The second option, i dont want to look to big!
If anyone has any pictures of 9n lowered on 15's it would be great!
Or if you recommend what to go with!
Nice one, Adam

You're tyre profile is too low to start with, which is why it looks naff
My Sport TDI which came with 15" alloys as standard have 195/55/15 tyres. Even if you go with bigger wheels, you'll be using lower profile tyres each time so the overall radius will remain the same.

If you put 17's on all your going to do is change the size of the alloy the overall radius will stay the same.
Go lower that's my advice

Yeah, mine came with the 14" ones so i'm stuck to this annoying size!
I see polo's on 17" with 205/40/17 and they seem to look more filled, is that just because of the rim size making it look larger?
Cheers

This is what my arch gap used to be like on 205/45/16 on 30mm springs
all you need is a suspension drop

No one's seen my point yet
Hasn't anyone noticed one eason they look SO small (thus creating a larger arch gap as well) is because he's running 195/50/15 as opposed to 195/55/15

Ah, i do see what your saying. But my car came fitted with 165/70/14, at the moment on the 195/50/15 im running about half a mph slower than with original.
on 195/55/15 it goes up to 1.5 mph more.
I haven't got much experience so maybe you could help me. would having your actual speed 1.5mph more matter?
And would it really make that much difference aesthetically?

Put it this way, I'm still on my stock alloys (which are dimensionally the same to the pepperpots) and those are fitted with 195/55/15 tyres.
The first thing I thought before reading your post is "those tyres look way too skinny"
Then again, I'm slightly lower than you on VW sports suspension but those wheels with those tyre stick out like a sore thumb.

But it depends on which alloys were fitted as stock, the speedo is set in the factory to match that specific ratio of tyre. so if yours is different as stock (which it is) then i believe its a case of finding the right tyre size? if someone could confirm?
Maybe get it dropped and see what it looks like.

The point you're missing is with 195/55/15 tyres, my overall rolling radius would have been the same as your 14" steels with whatever tyres they came with out of the factory, which would again be the same as that of ANY alloy/wheels offered as upgrades by vw. Get the factory steels with tyres originally fitted to them and I'll bet the overall radius is greater than what you've fitted to your car
