Hi, can anyone help? I have a Polo 1.6, petrol, Auto 1998. Problems is gearshift from 1st to 2nd is quite haresh ('lurches!') and from 2nd to 3rd allthough not as bad. Downshifting is OK. Have checked for faults with VAG-COM, all OK, have carried out throttle valve adaptation, reseting basic settings on gearbox ECU, had the batterydisconected to reset ECU, have ensured throttle body is clean, all conections secure. Operation of electro/servo valves monitored vie VAG-COM whilst driving and apperas normal! Any experts out there with any idears? Occasionaly the problem goes away and everything is nice and smooth.

could be the torque converter or the flid needs a flush r possibly even a stiking valve withi the box that is requiring exess pressure to open but what ever it is id get vw to check it out as there is thill the 100,000 mile drivetrain warenty and vw boxes arnt the best build beasts ever and the auto`s all the more so :(

syncro only exists in manual boxes as in an auto the powed is transfered by the use of fluids and very occasionally belts
