Lowering 50mm on stock suspension

Ive got an mk5 polo and am only 17 so my funds are real low. Ive managed to scrape up some cash for some 16' oz titan alloys and realise that ive gotta lower it. Ive decided to go for the -50mm eibach sportline springs which ive heard are real good. After speaking to a guy with the same set up he gets no scrubbing and no exhaust pinging. The main problem is that i cant afford the coilovers but just the springs. I am obviously gonna get them tracked and camber adjusted but is the -50 drop on stock suspension gonna be real real harsh and is the handling going to be sacrificed? What over disadvantages are there? Cheers

The problem with keeping the stock shock absorbers is the the handling will be worse than with uprated/shortened shocks. I'd expect them to make the ride bouncy (as they're less efficient at damping the car's motion) and jerky.

They'll also wear out or leak sooner than uprated ones. If you can live with all this, it's a budget option worth getting. I know there's a LOT of cars out there that go this route. Hell even I did 6 years ago. Then got springs + shocks. Then coilovers...

Ontopic: Eibach is quality though. You'll like 'em even more with Bilstein or Koni shocks...
