i recently purchased a polo 1.2 and i seem to be getting some crap mpg. so just thought i would ask others with the same engine what they getting with there polo?

I dont have an exact figure but the fuel consumption is shocking in mine aswel!...
Im guessing because you have to drive the balls off it to get it up to speed

a think its not to bad.a dont drive fast or that.to low for going fast plus its a 1.2
£30 a week for me and a about 40miles a day in mine when driving to work and back.

i put a tennar of petrol in mine one time and drove it nice and casually, got over 110miles out of it

Of course you will be getting crap mileage it's a petrol engine. Get yourself a diesel and see the magic figures of 65 mpg without trying and long journeys capable of almost 80 mpg, well that's what I have had in mine over the years thought my guage was faulty the first time it gave out 80mpg over 912 miles out the tank and still had the red sector to go, who needs blue motion?

You should be able to attain 55mpg without to much hassel.

what diesel engine is this you have a 1.4tdi or sdi maybe ?

that is really good...i put £30 the other day and its only done 220.

It is the 1.4tdi 75hp one originally a 2005 twist(54 plate) but modified pics to come once her in doors has finished messing about with the camera.

The car is probally well ran in now with just over 66k on the clock now. I generally get about 65 to the gallon but usually travelling a regular speed between 55 and 60 for the best part of my daily trip to and from work38 miles round trip 20quid does me two weeks andthats my running around at the week end taxi-ing the boy about to football fishing etc

I wouldn't have the sdi engine had a non turbo ford before and regretted it but it was all I could afford .It is embarrassing when you join the motorway and you have to wait a mile or so before you are at any normal travelling speed ie 60 mph so it has to be turbo all the way a bit extra torque and does what you want when you want with little or no lag....

Mmmm...I've got a 1.4 TDi too. If you drive mine over a longish distance and don't go over 65 MPH, it doe low - mid 60s in the MPG department. The best I've seen is 63 MPG over abround 75 miles A roads / motorways and 25 miles town / 40 MPH roads. Was a boring drive though, trying to stick to 60 - 65 MPH. If I stick to 70 MPH, I usually get mid - high 50s. I'd love to see 70+ MPG...got any secrets you wanna share Sandy?

Either that or I reckon my car's buggered.
