Auto Door locking

Right guys (and gals).
My wife has a 2006 Polo 1.4 Sport 3 door that is an absolute dream to drive. I have a MKV Golf GTI and using VCDS (VAG-COM) I have been able to set the auto door locking and unlocking on. As my wifes commute every day is through Liverpool she would like the same setting on her car (no disrespect meant to Liverpool, just a single women in a car. I think the doors should always be locked at all times, no matter what city she is driving through).
My question is, on the Polo is it possible to enable this using VCDS ? I only have the USB CAN version of the Ross Tech cable that I purchased from Ross Tech for my Golf, and I tried a scan with it on the wifes Polo, but it couldn't communicate. I guess this is beacuse the Polo platform didn't use Can Bus ?
Is there an older version of VCDs or an Ebay special that anyone knows of that coul do this (and other mods) or is the Polo incapable of these "hidden" gems like the Golf/Passat platform ?
