Hi guys,

this has happened twice since i picked the car up last week, ill do a 10-15 minute journey and stop (ie for petrol) and when i get back in the car within say 5 mins, the car wont fire up straight away. Ill have to give it a bit of gas and then it splutters a bit and starts. The battery and starter motor are fine, its good petrol, it had a service in Feb and an MOT last week.

Im guessing possibly HT lead/Spark plug related?

Any help?

Was thinking exactly that before I even opened the thread!

(dodgy temp sender can cause the engine to flood or not get any fuel atall...hence why stating is a problem... I had the same issue!)

Unplug the temp sender (the ECU will insert a default value)... and see if it still messes you about.....(VAG-COM would probs tell you the sender is faulty if you run it!)

Yes you can...

as you look at the engine from the front of the car the sender is on the left hand end near the front of the car.....

Look for where all the water piping etc is... and you will see a little wire plugged into it.... unclip the wire, lift out the plastic slide clip and pull the sender out...

but be warned... when you pull it out coolant will start to p*** everywhere..... so fit the new one ASAP complete with new rubber O-Ring!

get a spare clip too if i were you. i did the same thing but my clip broke so i couldn't secure the hose and coolant went everywhere

Might as well get a box of the sodding sensors... I am on my third in two years!
