Ok so over the past few weeks ive been having problems with my clutch. At first i thought the self-adjuster wasnt working so got the 10 and 13 out and tightened the clutch cable. This was to no avail as the problem soon came back. Earlier this week i bought a new clutch cable from my local motorshop for £30 and fitted it. All seemed good but a yesturday at my mates house i pushed the clutch down to reverse out of his drive but seemed to just snap under my foot and went completley limp.

After taking out some of the trim and the pedal itself (pedal was fine) me and my mate took the pedal box out and instantly new what had happened. I'm sure most of u guys are aware of this problem but if your not, basically the welding on the pedal box was very poor on most VW around year 2000. It was inevitable they would snap at some time and VW got so many complaints there was a recall on the Polo GTi's.

Now after some research i found the official recall on the Vosa website

I have a 1999 1.4 16v but all the pedal box's are the same so i have printed this out and will take it to my local VW dealer and see what thay can do.

I can't remember but I think the 'good will gesture' only applies to cars less than 8years older or 100,000 miles (which ever comes first). Also the 6n polo's weren't a recall but a memo sent to all dealers to sort the problem out free of charge. Good luck as I know its the individual dealers choice on whether they want to do it or not.

turns out VW will fix it for me for free but will take like 3 weeks so im paying my local Audi dealer to do it for £170 on Tuesday so can't argue with that

yeh i've heard they are good. It's a shame really seeing as the VW dealership is opposite and they are bollucks

Err, have you got the right place! Audi in Newton are seperate to Monningtons who are at Decoy Industrial Estate!

haha yeh i had the wrong place in my head. Took my black magic to Monningtons this afternoon on the back of a trailer :/ should have it back on Wednesday then my new VW golf G60's are going to go on
