i havnt made any kind of progress thread yet so i thought it was about time
mods so far without pictures:
gti grill with silver badge
bbs wheels (cant remember what there called - (craig_mk4s old wheels)
ive decided to try somthing different on the interior so sprayed the tweeter covers black but i left the grill bit the standard color. I personally really like the outcome and think it works well
next came the pressed plates from dubmeister / tsr performance - completely legal just need to find a better way to secure them over sticky tape
one more picture of the back, i de wipered it a few weeks ago and added a dubway sticker from ebay
last but no least! coilovers from phill j on clubpolo.co.uk waiting to be fitted!
any comments welcome!

Good progress, it's the little things that counts. Really like the tweeter covers, top job. Plus, silver is the best colour
When's the coilovers getting fitted? I've got the exact same ones on my GTi, set the car off so much. Do you have any idea what the seperate springs are for by any chance?

thanks emma,
well they were booked in for last week to be fitted but they didnt arrieve till monday, parcel force left the box on my doorstep for everyone to see and anyone to take though =[
so then i had them booked in for today, but the polo broke on me last night =[ so the aa towed me to a garage and i had my wheel bearings / hubs replaced at the aas expense

which took up all of todays time
they also said my wishbones are broken aswell as tracking and camber being out so its a awful lot of money i need to spend =[
the plan is, keep the car off the road untill saturday.
wishbones hopefully replaced tuesday
next saturday have they coilovers fitted then get tracking and camber done and 2 new tyres =]
so a busy week i think!
i may be wrong but the extra springs could be extra to replace the front or back?
i remember seeing a similar set up on a polo 9n on another thread, i could be way out though.
did you have them too?

Yeah I got them with my coilovers too.. I've been told that they're extra lowering springs for a 6n? God knows. Migt are gathering dust in my room as I have no idea what to do with them, or what they are ha.
Bad crack with the wishbone etc.. Think of it this way - At least that can't go wrong again, can it.

i dont see, and ive never heard of wishbones breaking from the tracking and camber being out? i cant even see why the camber would be out? if your car was on the deck then yes i could understand, unless you have had some shockers changed in the past? but i think that is the biggest billy s**t ive head mate, get a light on the wishbones and check them out, as the wishbones are cast they wont crack they would just snap, oh and they would bend first

it seemed a bit odd to me aswell but being honest i dont know an awful lot about car mechanics so im learning as i go =]
the only thing is since i had the bearings and hub have been replaced it now feels like theres a kind of rumbling noise from around the wheel they replaced, not sure at all what that is =/
hopefully have it all fixed again on tuesday, see what the garage says then. im having no luck with the polo at the moment =[
feels like after every problem theres a new one =[
as it stands though its not really safe to drive on the road according to the garage so its just sitting there looking good in the sun
ill go check out the wishbones now, any ideas what these symptoms sound like though
when turning the steering wheel all the way to the left or right theres a clicking / thump noise
the garage are saying wishbones but possibly cv joint?
it happens in both directions and sounds to be only from the passenger front wheel
any ideas welcome!

Those extra springs look like rear springs for a 9N kit, there's no need for them to be included with yours
Use foam tape for the numberplates mate. You cna get it from B&Q

also i took it to a garage the other day and they said the coilovers were the wrong ones as theres movement in them when you turn the wheel
i emailed phill j and this is the conversation we had:

hey buddy, i bought a set of coilovers from you a few weeks ago but only just had them fitted.
I've noticed a clicking noise coming from when you turn the steering full lock to left or right and have taken it to my trusty garage
who have then told me that the cause of the noise are down to the springs in the coilovers twisting and bending and that they are not the correct kit to fit the car.
any chance that a incorrect set could have been sent?
they are for a polo 6n2, thanks joe
Did you get a pair of large front springs in the box? As well as 4 built coilovers?
yeah buddy i did, would they need to be fitted instead?
Yep, the larger ones are for a 6n, not sure why they've started leaving the 6n springs on as well.
I'm a little confused mate, i have a 6n2 and currently have the standard coilovers that were sent and made up put on the car.
i have a set of two large springs seperate that were in the box but these are not fitted and still in the box
are you saying that i will need to fit the larger springs onto the coilovers to make them work correctly?
Yep.
- im refering to the larger springs shown in the top photos, could someone shed more light onto this please? do i need to put the bigger springs on the front?
