This is a quote from alexperkins
On the Polo GTI, the dipped beams are factory fitted Xenon HID bulbs in a D2S fitment.
High/Main Beams are a H1 halogen bulb.
Sidelights are 501 or W5W and are a completely independant bulb.

Re: GTI xenon bulbs
There is a special black plastic ring which you put on over the bulb back after it has been put into the light which twists into place. Then the red/black connector does a quarter twist onto the back of the bulb to lock.
The rings are available seperately youll be pleased to know, but only from a dealer, and warrant a silly price for what they are

how much would a dealer do them for anyways?
Re: GTI xenon bulbs

Standard ballasts will support 6000k bulbs, so long as they are the standard 35W ones

Re: GTI xenon bulbs
Oh and to add, the factory xenon ballasts will start a 6000k or 4300k bulb much faster than an aftermarket, without the flicker.
Re: GTI xenon bulbs
ahh thats good to know. i hate the flicker ones. sometimes my current hid kit from hids 4u they flicker so much while im driving. so random!alexperkins wrote:Oh and to add, the factory xenon ballasts will start a 6000k or 4300k bulb much faster than an aftermarket, without the flicker.
