Hi All

I am about to carry out a 40,000mile service on my 1.4tdi.

Does any one know the proceedure for changing the diesel filter?
I assume its the cylindrical thing behind the offside headlight?

No worries about removing it and disconnecting the hoses, i'm just not sure about releasing the pressure first and whether the car will ever start again after i've changed it

Cheers
John

Just take the hoses off (noting where they go) and re-attach to the new filter. After you've changed it, start the car and give it some revs and it should die shortly after. Now, turn over the starter motor until it starts...it may take upto 20 or so seconds to start as the fuel is primed through the filter, but it will start eventually. I did this myself for the first time on my 1.4 TDi back in December and it was fine :) Be careful when taking the hoses off as if you do it too violently, you may end up with diesel all over your face (as my mate found out  )

Ash :)
