you might want to ask the mkiv section of the forum... not the for sale one!

Moved by me.

You should be able to get away with 17s with minimal scrubbage - if you lower it at all though it will scrub.

2 things i would recommend.

1) Adjustable damping suspension (so you can reduce suspension travel and stop it scrubbing)
2) Either Pirelli 195 or Falken 205 section tyres (as these are the narrowest tread)

use

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html

and stay within 2.5% for the change in size

doesn't really look a goiod fit.. although prob' get away with 205/35/17 ! if you could find that tyre ! ouch !

not sure if you are going to find a 205/35/17 tyre but you can definately get a 195/40/17 that will be much better and won't scrub only thing is it does cost about £95.

you used to be able to get Toyos in 215/35-17 - but there too wide!

tempo.. it ain't worth the hassle going to 17's..... replacement tyres will be hard to get hold of, etc

even if you do it, one slight knock or chip on the alloy will be heart braking.....

not to mention the ride quality down in the sub 40 profile tyres !

I've got 225/40/18's on my TT and they may look nicer but I wish for the handling and smoothness of the 225/45/17's that used to have... big aint always better.... anyway I chipped my 18" RSTT alloys a day after fitting and that was a near-death experience

go for 16s with 195/40/16 tyres. they look fairly big but dont scrub at all..

go for the 17's imo they look much better (does hurt tho if you scrape them).

er... narrowest tread ? I hear the 185mm tyre has a narrower tread than the 195mm tyre

195/45/15 are the best tyre size for the mk4.
