Hi there
just bought a set of gti headlights for my polo, not to sure on how to fit
them it looks like the bumper might have to come off but i dont want to
cause any damage to the fron of the car ive only just had it repainted
so does any one have any DIY guides on how to fit them

Yes, you do have to take the bumper off. It was quite a while ago when I did mine but....

There are quite a few screws - all torx.
Pop the bonnet and start with the 4 on the slam panel
Another 6 right underneath the front of the car.
There are 2 or maybe 3 in the front side of the wheel arches (these are a bit of a pain to get to!)
I think that's all of them if I remember.

When you've done all the screws, lift the bumper a bit upwards from bottom, then tilt the top of it towards you (about 45 degrees) then pull outwards and off.
When you put it back on you'll probably need a 2nd pair of hands to help. Basically, put it back on at the same angle as you took it off. Bottom in 1st then tilt the top in and slip the sides back into place.
Getting it back on is trickier than taking it off!

One other tip is to turn the current headlights on before you start - and mark a wall it shines onto so you can align the new lights to the correct height.

the last post has the job as it should be done, unfortunately yes the bumper needs removed, get a mate round to hold so you don't damage it. good luck.

Yeah you have to take the bumper of and tbh its a right arse ache

but when i did mine i just worked my way from the top down including the torque screws

in the arches!!

well worth doing though!
