You'd stuggle with a Passat engine, as its longitudenally mounted in the car. A golf engine is transverse & what u'd want. Too many brackets, hoses, manifold etc to find if you got a Passat engine.

Just found some info that will make your life easy! Use an Ibiza Cupra gearbox & driveshafts for ease of transplant.

Then you'll need to make custom engine mounts to enable you to put your choice of 1.8T in.

Apparently if you go on club-polo & search for ash's polo you'll find some useful info.
