Hi,
im looking at fitting a K&N cone induction kit on my 6N2 has anyone else done this? what experiences have people had? good/bad results?

There's quite a few problems with K&N's spitting oil every where and there quite bad on heat soak. I had one then replaced it with a BMC CDA which works alot better. Currently for sale also

Induction Kits = Chav!!!

They're right up there with lexus lights.

Stick with standard paper filter you'll go a long way mate.

Meet in the middle,forget a K&N filter.Just buy a replacement panel filter.That way it's concealled from the hot air in the engine bay and allows more air flow than a standard paper filter.It can also be cleaned time after time without being replcaed.I'd personally reccomend a Green cotton replacement panel filter.

Induction kits are so not chavy lol,

All you need is a decent heat repeling filter with a cold air feed dude, either bmc cda or a pipercross viper, iv got the viper and its excellent mate!
Cold air feed on ur standard box is very low and the intake area is compact and tiny, the more air flow the better mate,

Aye true. It's just that every one around this neck of woods care about how their car sounds rather than worrying about key things which are important.

It's a bit like this "dude your car sounds a bit noisy" I say

"Ye just got my Induction kit init blud" Chav replies

"Nah I was talking about your tappets!"

Induction Kits are alot more effective on N/A Engines than Panel filters, thats why 95% of Polo GTI owners on here have either a BMC CDA, k&N Typhoon or a Viper Pipercross kit. Its the same with the old bolt on Carburetor filters for the older engines such as the A-Series. The replacement filter elements offer now advantage where as the bolt on carb filters not only sound better but offer alot more air into the carburetor. Their at their best when combined with a good cold air feed.

On Turbo Petrol engines or TDI's the Panl filters are indeed more effective but not on N/A engines.

Totally disagree that Indudction kits are for chavs, its probably the most common modification these days after wheels.
