Driver side window problem!

My driver side window does not go down at all. I can open and close the window on the passenger side using the driver side controls, and can lock/unlock the car using the driver side controls...so i dont think there is a problem with the switches on the drivers side. The window has been working perfectly fine since i have bought the car over a year ago, but today it has suddenly stop working. So does anyone know what the problem can be and how i could solve it?

Cheers in advance

Probably one of the biggest probs with polo's. It happened with me as well, You will need to take off the door card, to see if the clips have come off the runners. Which sounds like they have! if the window doesn't move at all. If its the case, you'll just need to clip them back on. i cabletied mine as it might happen again. i think theres a diy guide on one of my thread's. have a look through. hope you get it sorted mate!

Thanks for help...but i now have a new problem. In order for me to clip the bracket back in i need the window to be down, but the window is fully closed so i can't see the bracket at all and it is verrry hard for me to get my hands in. Any ideas on how to get the window down so i can fix the problem? I have tried to push the window down whilst pressing the the window button down, but no luck.

do you have central locking ???

if so try to override it by using the key in the drivers sidew door open the door with it but keep it twisted in the open position then windows roll down should kick in...

and do the same but keep it in the lock position for window roll up to engage...

i had this same problem on monday it was teh lug on my drivers window had snapped... i think from me closing the door while the window was down (makes a terrible noise)... i simply got some really strong sealent and pushed the lug into place then placed the sealent around the lug.. let it set over night now its all ok... no problems at all

Tried this but no luck...the window is still fully closed. I have taken the door card off to see if something has fallen off but can't seem to find anything. However i can't tell if the clip has undone as the window is fully closed so i really need to get the window down. Anyone got anymore suggestions?

Problem solved...the regulator and clips were fine the problem was that a brown wire had split in the door gap (im guessing from repeatedly opening and closing the door), simply joined the split ends together and the window is now working. However when i double click the window button the window does not go all the way down automatically...does any1 know why? And i now have confirmation that my gearbox has gone again after 6 months of being refurbed...sumtymz i wunder why i bought a polo!
