This has probably been done before in other forums but Ill ask here.
What is the best way to remove the locks from the door on the mk4?
Is it simply a case of getting some door handles off a 5 door version and putting them on instead? any ideas or part numbers would be appreciated

Yep, that's exactly how it's done. It only takes one screw - done in under ten seconds.

Part #'s for the rear handles:

6N4 839 205 B 3FZ

Check before ordering, as always. Will fit either left or right side. Comes as black, unpainted and unprepped.

Good luck!

Edited to insert the correct number.

the ones on mine are black as it is and not painted. Doesnt really matter as the car is black aswell.
Has anyone fitted flashing led door pins like on the golf?

I know this sounds sad, but I saw that part number and thought 'hang on, 819. Thats the heater area!!'

The correct no would be 6N4 839 205 B 3FZ

837 - Front doors
839 - Rear doors

Sorry

s**t you're right Neil. Made a typing booboo.

Colour coding them never hurts, even on black cars it's nice IMO.

Nope, just checked but they're identical. I knew they'd fit, but even the part numbers are exactly the same. Double checking everything now...
