But it's actually supposed to be completely flush up to the top lip of the boot opening, mines a few mm out but I never noticed.

Yes my spoiler also sits back about 4 mm from the edge as wouldn't sit correctly however this has helped big style at reducing the spray and dirt on the back window. From a distance you don't notice it only close up if you know what you are looking for.
