hey, my valver's booked in at a transmission specialist on Monday to get my gearbox recondtioned and new clutch. I'm paying about £650. I asked about getting uprated bearings but he said you can only have standard bearings :S
anything i need to know or tell the guys before they start work ?? cheers, Mark

You defo can get uprated bearings BUT i'm not sure where, may Venommotorsport can help or have them.
As for the price, it sounds fair although it depends how bad the internals are on yours and if it'll all be replaced.

Best way to keep it running that way is never rag the gearbox no matter how nice that 4k rev band sounds!
For some reason I've found it nice and smooth when I let the car warm up first. Never take it from 1st to reverse as there's a chance of crunching. You'd minimise the chances by buting it in neutral before shifting it into reverse.

It helps to push the stick down firmly when engaging reverse. I take my time with it, clutch right down and 9 times out of 10 it goes in without a hitch
