my starter motor needs replacing , there is one on ebay, but im just wondering about engine code, does this matter as its the right one e.g. vw polo mkv 1.0 mpi but its off a 2001 and mine is a 2000,

If yours is a 1.0 I wouldn't worry about it mate. If it's not do some further research, I don't know if different engined starter motors are compatible.
