I have been trying to do my new install but have hit a bit of a snag. Me and my mates cannot work it out and was just wondering if there is a easy way round it.
My car has air con/airbags etc etc and about a ton of sound deadening and god knows what else tucked up behind the dash. We managed to locate two holes (with the plastic lughole coer things) in the engine bay leading through past the bulkhead into the back of the dash. We can poke the power cable through but cant get to where it would be coming out behind the dash. Is it a case of taking apart the dash. We already did this in a minor way...dont really want to have to remove more due to the passenger airbag etc. Whats the best way/route others have found to channel a power cable from the battery in past the dash... ? ?
Bit of a lame problem but a problem never the less.
Please help

just keep pushing the wire through until your mate on the inside can see it, then get him to pull whilst you feed it through.

Don't do it! you don't need any dismantling of the dash - use the one that's underneath the water bottle in the engine bay. then pull out the lining from the passenger footwell (comes out easy), and you can see the wire come through about a foot up from the floor. tadaaaaaaa! I really should take some pics - I've done this many times in the mkiv and to feed the power wire to the boot takes about 20 mins....

Did you read the original post at all? Tried this in different locations...if only it were that simple.
As for the hole "that's underneath the water bottle in the engine bay", can you be slightly more specific? We're really looking for a whole that comes out as low down behind the dash as possible. The "holes" we have located are way too high up right back behind the plastic panel that snaps up protecting the wiper arm etc...these come out so far up that they are unaccessible. Almost where the windscreen meets the top of the dash I would have thought. I got my hand stuck atleast a few times

not really, try this pic that i took today:
it's the one with the wire poking through the bulkhead.
as for inside:
that's about a foot off the floor - you need to peel back the liner and the carpet. stick a screwdriver through from inside, and look for it in the bulkhead from the engine bay - if you do this then you can't go wrong.

Yeah we peeled back everything and only found like 1 hole, of which went in about a cm and then hit metal and curved down towards the floor of the car hence useless. I really have no idea where this is. I think your car may be of a different specification? Will have to just keep trying then. The engine bay is so cramped its hard to get to where you think the holes would be.

where are you from? local?
what spec is it - mine's a 1.4 16v so has a few options on it (no air con).
there _must_ be some wires coming through the bulkhead on the passenger's side. there were two holes on my 1.0 litre mkiv. are there any grommits filled it? all the cars will have the same bulkhead....
sorry can't be any more use!
