Hey Guys,

Can someone tell me how I attach the plate surrounds to the rear of my car? The original threads are fcuked so can't really use them, I was thinking about putting trim repair tape to the back and sticking them on but its a bit risky as the plates aren't cheap! Any tips?

Personally I wouldn't use plate surrounds, not a fan myself.

But if you want to fit them without any drilling, just get some B&Q foam tape and use it to stick the plate to the surround, and the surround to the bumper.

The stuff will stick and stay, don't you worry about that! Just make sure it's all clean and dry.

Yeah don't really want to drill them as I think it makes them look a bit naff, i've got some strong trim repair tape which I used for the front plate. Ordered some surrounds, came in a pair so if they look crap at the back (i'll use for the front) i'll put the other one spare onto the Lupo

Apparently the trick with repair tape is to warm it up a bit with a hairdryer first, allegedly it holds better! Worth a try!

Saying that i've got the front one on without screws and its held tight, hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to get them off lol!

Mine were a full on slaaaag to get off with trim tape on the bumper!

Well the trim tape worked well on the plastic plates but s**t on the alloy, not too sure I think I might drill out the old bolt locations and nut & bolt the plate surrounds to the car, the front is fine because the screw threads work fine

Im new to this site and i was just wondering if you could help me.

I was thinking about putting pressed plates on my car, but i dont know the legallity of them etc.. i have heard that if you have plain text and a 'GB' band then they are ok..

any help or suggestions on this would be great,

The only legal pressed plates are the UK font legal ones available from sites like dubmeister.co.uk. these have the small postcode at the bottom also making them legal.

Has nothing to do with the banding on them, if it's GB band and german font it's still illegal.
