Hello guys, i'm new here.

I need some help working out what offset i need to fit some 18" wheels on a Polo 06 plate (9N2 i think)
i know lots of people wanna go off topic and mention 17's when the words "18 inch" gets mentioned on this website, but the car already has 17's and has been lowered 35mm, and i really really love the look of the polo, but just want them wheels to be a tad bigger.. I've read through as many posts as i could find regarding 18inch wheels on Polo's and i've found very little advice regarding offsets.. can anyone help with a few hyper links, or possible advice??

I also need a link for purchasing the alloys.. all the sites i am coming across are very very poor with there specs, and don't give enough info regarding offsets or spacing for different vehicles.
I really want a multi spoke 18 inch rim without a dish, so the spoke runs right to the edge of the rim. Not fussed on the price much, just want the right wheel for the car. so any good links would be great.. Brands/Shops/Styles etc.

I haven't managed to find a 7J or 7.5J 18" wheel anywhere, tho this would probably be my best option for space under the arch, an 8J wheel is alot easier to find and would be cool if i can find out the exact offsets that will sit the rim between the mounting hub and the arch perfectly.

One guy mentioned 51mm offset, tho this sounds like it would sit too close to the suspension, then again i know nothing... so just guessing basically.

Any help would be appreciated, this is my first post, and i don't know how the people in this forum operate, so excuse my manors if i have come across blunt or anything.. just need help, and thought i would ask.. I don't have much to offer in return.. but if anyone needs advice on Diesel E92 3 Series Coupe's.... Please Please PM me, as i would love to be of assistance.. ha

Just a quick tip, if it even is a tip to start with lol, with ET the higher the number such as 45 or 50 etc then the more further in the wheels will be, hiding under the arches. I think we all tend to go for a lower ET such as 35 or 30, maybe 25 or whatever number is out there on alloys, the lower the ET number then the more the wheels stick out in line with your arches, which gives the best stance i believe. Always check the ET i would say when you shop around for new wheels. Also 18" gives the car poor performance, 17" is the best to go for.

i have 18s on my polo there 8j et 35 5x100 fits perfect no rubbing or anything. hope this helps.

Your reply was short, with very little information, but was straight to the point.. You've definitely made me feel more comfortable about running the 18's on the Polo. It's a 1.4 Diesel, and i have no plans for tuning it to get an extra 20-30 horses or so.. i just want a practical hatch with some style for the Mrs to plod around in.. I feel too sorry for the other innocent drivers out there on the road to let my girl loose in a fast car.. She'd be a danger to everyone!! I'd rather throw the dosh at my Beema if i'm thinking about performance..

PS, i'd love to see a few pics of your car riding the 18's..

205/40 17 would be the way to go for practicality. 35 series tyres don't offer much rim protection and a very stiff.

Much cheaper too so you can put the money towards coilovers.

I'm running 7.5x17 et32 s3 rims with 205/40 yokohamas. 10mm spacers at back (so et22)

Same size as the TT parabol wheels.

But before we start running off topic and chatting breeze about 17's, could we just get back on topic on the 18" specs..

Is there anyone else on this forum that's spinning 18's and has any feedback/input to share about any issues or has any experience they could share..
I have been looking at the BBS RC 18" wheel which is commonly seen on the golf, does anyone know the available offsets on these wheels and where i could find an experienced dealer in the UK.. i have found a few sellers, but have the same issue where they don't know relevant offset specs and they have no experience of fitting on Polo's.. I'm just hoping to find a wheel reseller that has some VW experience with his/her products..

youd need the offset i mentioned earlier with 35series rubber im not sure what the exact tyre size was however ill check for you later if you need. if you click this link you can see a pic of the car with 18s which is also a 1.4Tdi with no engine mods. we posted the pics on my brothers Account so there under "Shah".http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... &start=120 its the black one with black rims and a red lip
