Gearbox problem

Can anybody help me i have got a mk 5 polo 1.0l year 2000 .i am having problems selecting 1st gear when when engine is up to temperture all other gears select perfect accept for first but when cold it selects 1st gear perfect with no problems ,i have changed the gearbox oil but still the same .

Sounds like your linkage may need minor adjustment

I would also consider your clutch. Mine was a nightmare for this before it was changed, same for reverse too.
