Fog lights..

Hi, as in my other thread if i cant get hold of "non" foglight GTI honey comb grills, i will opt for the foglight grills.

a few questions about them..

1. where would i find the new switch for them, is it a straight connect and swap?

2. i see a number of cars driving around with all 4 headlights on (the bottom ones in place of the fog lights, but not being used as foglights)?

How would i be able to do that?

Or do they light upon turning on the headlights but only become very bright when the fog lights are turned on?

3. i remember some one telling me the fog light wiring is all ready in the car, where would i find it?

4. What bulbs to use?

Thanks Lewis.

Any help would be appreciative!

Switch can be picked up new from a dealer, or a scrapyard. Polos, Golf Mk4s, Boras of the same era all have the same switch

Not sure what you mean on number 2 - fogs and headlights on together? if so, this can be done as standard.

3 - yes it is. its connected to a blank connector either side of the inside of the bumper area

4- fogs use H7 bulbs same as your headlights.

Id say the bottoms are being used as fogs lol - fogs and headlights can be run together like that on polos too.

im only asking because i see lots of cars on the roads that have all 4 lights on when its not even foggy.

and im sure they dont turn there fog lights on for the fun of it?

thanks for the answers tho!

It is illegal, but most dont worry.

Now what you say is interesting. You can get LEDs to replace the fogs which are pretty kl - i have that, or you could poss wire in a big resistor to drop the voltage and dim the bulbs perhaps?

Alot do for the fun of it beleive it or not!

Could i only run the front head lights and LED 'fogs' with out the rear fog light being on?
