What gearboxes fit the 6N2 16v?

I have a 2001 6N2 16v (1.4 litre, 75 hp), and now I've blown my gearbox.
I'm looking for a replacement through online parts dealers, but getting the weirdest hits; I get suggestions for boxes as old as from 1996, but as far as I know, that was the (similar looking) previous incarnation of the Polo. Do these boxes really fit a 2001 6N2???
I would get a box from the correct year, but these are so expensive that I may as well get another car instead.

Update: I've identified the engine as an "AUA", and the gearbox as an "ETD"; a 5-gear manual transmission that was in VW Polo and Lupo between 99-01, and also in Seat Arosa between 99-00.

I've gotten some good answers from a local tech, and I thought I'd post them here, in case someone runs into the same problem.
The ETD gearbox is evidently notorious for breaking down in manners similar as mine, and finding a used one that hasn't broken down, is a bit of a challenge. As someone on another forum stated; "they are made of cheese". A gearbox restorer I talked to, said that once they are as far gone as mine, they are not really worth restoring at all.
Luckily, there are other gearboxes that fit the AUA engine; for instance DKX,DYF,FFH,FCU and FVT. The biggest difference between the boxes are the gear ratios, mainly for the 5th gear, so swapping an ETD for another box may alter the engine revs required for cruising speed up or down.

Yeh all mark5 Polo boxes are the same. It's down to the ratios however. Which is why I'd try and get your reconditioned. That way you know that the ratios and box itself are correct.
